Adding and Subtracting Money

New and revised math worksheets for adding and subtracting money were added to Math-Drills recently. The update accomplished the following:

  • Converted all of the worksheets to fillable and savable versions. Simply open the worksheet in your browser, fill it in; then save it and/or print it. Of course, they are still perfectly made for printing and completing with a pencil.
  • Updated the design to align with other new math worksheets.
  • Added new options for adding and subtracting whole number amounts without decimals.

Choose your currency: options exist for four currencies, two of which have the same symbol: U.S./Canadian Dollars, British Pounds, Euros and Australian/N.Z. Dollars. This allows students in different parts of the World the ability to see worksheets tailored to their currency. It also allows for slight differences in currency increments for some worksheets. For example, the U.S. and Canada use quarters (0.25), and the Euro uses twenty Euro Cents coins (0.20).

Addition, subtraction or both: There are options for adding only, subtracting only or both adding and subtracting on the same page. The latter should include the same number of addition and subtraction questions on each page, but they are mixed up, so students still need to pay attention to the sign in each question.

Mental math? Consider using these math worksheets for mental math, especially since there are options for numbers in specific increments. It might be a way to develop mental math skills by starting with the larger increment versions first. Questions with 50 cent increments, for example, would be less challenging than questions with one cent increments. Compare: $1.50 + $2.00 vs. $3.59 + $2.95.
