Picture and Number Patterns

Pascal's triangle has a number of applications in mathematics including patterning. One of the basic activities with Pascal's triangle is identifying the patterns in the triangle. More advanced students might relate the Fibonacci numbers derived from Pascal's triangle to population studies.

If you don't have the real thing, or your students use them as projectiles, print the pattern blocks below to help you teach patterning.

The picture patterns worksheets below come in a number of themes and include various configurations of shape, size and rotation attributes. The worksheets include the answers mixed up at the bottom of the page, but you can easily exclude these if you don't want them to appear: simply fold that part up before you copy the page, cut it off of an individual print out, or size the window on your screen, so that part doesn't show.
